Background & Experience

My husband Allen and I have lived in Pleasant Hill for 43 years where we raised our three sons. I am familiar with the programs provided by PHRPD for children, teens, and seniors and have followed their activities and actions as our community has grown and become more complex.

I was an active participant on the Pleasant Hill Fourth of July Commission for 13 years, President for two years and Treasurer for five years.

As a volunteer to the Chamber of Commerce for the Pleasant Hill Art, Wine & Music event I chaired the Beer Garden for two years, and participated for over 10 years as a volunteer for set-up, take-down and ticket sales. My background of volunteerism in Pleasant Hill has been ongoing. I’ve helped with Community Service Day projects and assisted with numerous Rotary projects and events as the spouse of a Rotary Club of Pleasant Hill member. There is always a need for volunteers, and I have been a ready and able participant.

On the sports side, our boys were active in youth baseball, soccer and basketball. I assisted my husband, whether he was coaching or acting in a commissioner role, with the numerous teams that he coached, sometimes simultaneously.

In 2018 my husband and I were honored as the 2017 Citizens of the Year for our service to Pleasant Hill.

I am a retiree of the University of California, 20 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and 19 years at the UC Office of the President. My background in procurement and contracts, and management of the prime contracts for the three UC National Laboratories is a good fit for PHRPD.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way organizations must operate. PHRPD has done an admirable job in providing online activities and keeping the community informed, though the long term effect on revenues, programs and policies is yet to be fully understood.

My prior work experience along with my volunteer activities will be a benefit to PHRPD. I will work hard to bring additional creative thinking to the issues facing the Board in the coming years.

Recreation & Parks are important, now more than ever!
